Feelings of Christmas

Christmas isn’t Christmas
til it happens in your heart…
candy cane trees
brightly packaged dreams
with fancy bows
snow angels, snowmen
kisses under the mistletoe
wafting aromas
of cinnamon and pine
everywhere you go
delectable senses of Christmas,
this is true

But it’s the feelings invoked
the memories stirred
and created anew
that sparks the Christmas joy
inside of me, inside of you
inviting us to remember
a deeper love
more primal and true
not just for friends and family
and joyous celebration
but for all of creation
and for humanity itself
