Gone but Not Forgotten

Are they really gone
far beyond the reaches of time
beyond the veil
where glimpses caught by human eyes
pierce not

Gone are the smiles
the twinkle in the eyes
perhaps, in a visual sense
but not in the hearts nor in the mind
for here they play in timeless memory
forever etched
in the hearts they touched

And the hearts that love them
will forever remember
